Silicon Valley Disc Golf Club

SVDGC Newsletter Vol 4. Issue 1 - January 2000

Dear Disc-ers and Disc-ettes,

We've got a BINGO! It's a MAJOR, BIG TIME BINGO!! The Silicon Valley Disc Golf Club has acquired a status with the IRS as a 501(c) 3 organization!!! We're not just any non-profit corporation, but, one in which your financial contribution to the Club is TAX DEDUCTIBLE!! !! That's right, when you give a gift to the Club that's without consideration of something in return for the gift, then you can write it off on your taxes!!!!! Our new rallying cry is "send money now

And the MONEY is coming in quickly. About as quickly as we're SPENDING it. And we've been spending that money on CEMENT. As in TEE PADS. We've completed 6 pads to date (#11 forward & back I #12 forward & back 1 #13 forward & back) and we're in need of additional funds as well as labor to continue the progress. The next scheduled TEE PAD PARTY at Hellyer Park is SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 5, @ 11 AM. In the event of rain, we'll come in on the next Saturday, February 12. Think the good thoughts and we'll plan to see you and/or your money on the 5th of February. We've had donations ranging from $10 to $20 to $50 to $100 to $150 and the BIG ONE of $1,000! Every little bit helps and every big bit makes us that much closer to completing the tee pad project. Thanks go out to the workers and donors for their efforts.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL is the first of the year. It's $20 to renew your annual membership. Additional family members are $10. Use the enclosed, POSTAGE-PAID ENVELOPE to return and renew your membership(s) and continue the support of the Club and course at Hellyer Park. You'll be able to VOTE at the Annual Meeting that will take place the last Sunday of April, the 29th. You'll continue to receive this NEWSLETTER. And someday soon (?) when we agree upon a LOGO for the Club, we'll issue the long delayed T-SHIRT that's called for in the By-Laws.

We're still looking for 2 BRIDGES that will cross Coyote Creek so that we can open the remaining 7 holes on the west side of Highway #101. The "bridges" could be gang-planks or similar. We're still looking for a TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR to conduct a "monthly" event at Hellyer on the 2nd or 4th Saturday of the month. We're still looking to see YOU at the course as much as possible.
